I bought the car in early 1999 after the last owner had grabbed first gear instead of third downshifting approaching turn two at Texas World Speedway. The crankshaft broke at the number four cylinder and fortunately all of the shrapnel exited out the oil pan. The block, crank, cam and number four piston & rod were destroyed but the rest of the engine survived. The chassis had been not well maintained over the years and so I decided to do a frame-up rebuild.
 
The car has a long SCCA racing history from 1982 to 1997 competing mostly in the Southwest Division. At one point it was owned and raced by former SCCA Formula Ford National Champion C.T. Hancock.
 
During 1999 - 2004 I was busy racing shifter karts with Superkarts USA and earning my CMRA motorcycle road racing license running track days and endurance races at Texas World Speedway and Motorsports Ranch. The Lola sat quietly in my garage waiting..... In June of this year I highsided my Honda at 100+ mph without major injury and decided at age 48 it was time to go back to four wheels!
 
I have completed the chassis and am currrently waiting for an engine from Stoid Racing in Plano, Texas. The engine is being built by James Clem, a former SCCA FF divisional champion and former owner of Clem Racing Engines. The motor is suppose to be delivered before the end of 2005. After installation of the engine and engine accessories, the only other requirement is a paint job. The fiberglass bodywork still requires some minor repair and finish sanding.
 
I plan to run track days at TWS, Motorsport Ranch and the new Motorsport Ranch Houston. I also plan to attend an SCCA school to renew my road racing license and to run a limited number of SCCA races in 2006.
 
I have attached some photos of the car in its current state and will update the photos after engine installation and paint.
